Not sure what's going on here, but it seems these posts (RugRat
seems to be doing it also) are either being posted in Dovenet
and sent to Fidonet as well (or being posted in Fidonet and sent
to Dovenet, not sure). Are you possibly using the same echotag?
"DEBATE" is a Fidonet echotag, I use "DOVE-DEB" for Dovenet's
Debate echo, but one could use any prefix for Dovenet to separate
th two.

i can't believe people do this stuff. it's not like ftn is hard. someone who knows nothing about it can set it up correctly.

My internal codes and area tags are different here. Someone likely added
FIDO to their synchronet board and used DEBATE as their internal code for
FIDO DEBATE which, in the synchronet install, is/used to be the default internal code for this DOVE echo.

I actually can believe that someone might have made that error.

I don't use the default internal code for *either* echo here. Dove is DOVE-DEB, and FIDO is DEBATEF, and I can tell they are different just by checking what messages are in each one. DOVE DEBATE is active, where the FIDO echo very much is *not*.

Most definitely! And yeah, I believe it was only the two of you in a brief discussion on the Fido side and it ended up on Dovenet. I, too, think it may have only been one way, unless somehow Synchronet is catching it and not allowing it to go back to Fido.

I would believe the latter if it were the case, since Synchronet is usually far ahead of most things Fidonet related.
